Powertrain

Three breathtaking trims are available in the GMC Acadia lineup, and they're all powered by a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The engine comes through with more power than the SUV's previous powerplant, delivering a respectable 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. When the GMC Acadia has the appropriate equipment, it can tow up to 5,000 lbs.

An eight-speed automatic transmission handles gear shifts competently and quickly. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is optional for the base and GMC Acadia Denali trims. All-wheel drive is the only drivetrain available with the GMC Acadia AT4 model, which is to be expected given that trim's off-road-ready nature.

A twin-clutch all-wheel drive system isn't the only thing that sets the GMC Acadia AT4 apart from its siblings. This trim also has exclusive suspension tuning, hill descent control, and selectable driving modes for different kinds of terrain.
